Support the Project, Minister tells DRDIP Beneficiaries

Minister, Kasule Lumumba interacted with beneficiaries in South-Western Uganda urging them to continue doing the right thing so as to protect the project that has changed their lives.

The Minister in charge of General Duties in the Office of the Prime Minister, Kasule Lumumba (October, 12 to 14) paid a monitoring visit to DRDIP implementing districts in South Western Uganda from 12 -14, October 2022.  Lumumba interacted with beneficiaries urging them to continue doing the right thing so as to protect the project that has changed their lives.

 Lumumba observed that government would consider developing a special program for the refugee host communities. She noted that despite the great work of DRDIP, there were still gaps to be filled in the areas of; water, roads, electricity, health and education. At Isingiro district, Lumumba interacted with beneficiaries from Nakivaale and Oruchinga refugee settlements who expressed great satisfaction with the work of DRDIP but made a call to government to consider extending electricity to the project areas.

Planned by the DRDIP Monitoring and Evaluation unit, the overall objective of the monitoring exercise was to establish the performance of the project. Apart from Ministers, this activity was attended by area Members of Parliament, District Local Councils led by respective Chairpersons. Others were the Chief Administrative Officers and technical teams, including DRDIP technical team led by the Project director.
